IBM Buys Unica Corp For Better Customer Targeting IBM Corp, or International Business Machine Corporation, which is based in Armonk, New York, has bought Unica Corporation so that the largest computer service provider company can give better marketing campaigns, those that have enhanced audience targeting. The price paid for the purchase of Unica Corp is around 480 million dollars.

As a result, the share holders of Unica will each get 21 dollars per share. In contrast, the values of share stocks recorded yesterday for Unica Corporation are less than half of that price. According to the Chief Executive Officer or CEO of the International Business Machine, Sam Palmisano, for five more years up to 2015, the company plans to spend around 20 billion dollars in acquisitions.

Most of those acquisitions will be for the benefit of the most profitable aspect of IBM, it’s software unit. Since the year 2003, around 60 acquisitions have been made for this unit alone. Unica, for Waltham, Massachussets, is for the software unit as well, making software that will help IBM give a good idea about the preferences of their customers in advance.

Unica has around 500 employers, working their best to make audience targeting effective and helpful not only for the companies involved but also the consumers so that they can get what they really want.
