Most Americans Spend Most of their Time on Social Networking Sites

0 Comments 03 August 2010

Most Americans Spend Most of their Time on Social Networking SitesNielsen conducted a survey regarding what Americans do online most of the time. The result is that most Americans spend most of their time visiting social networking sites. These sites include Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter as the three biggest social networking sites around. The percentage increase has been growing exponentially, and this is also manifested at the lower scale, as most of the people visit the worldwide web for Facebook, and in fact, some can no longer distinguish the fine line separating Facebook from the rest of the online world.
This implies that advertisers, businesses and the like should focus more on social networking sites. These are the sites where targeted advertisements should go, because these are where the targeted audience is. In fact, Facebook has already surpassed the 500 million mark, and Twitter has just twitted it’s 20 billionth tweet.
There are still companies that pay to get their advertisement on that big Yellow pages book, but the trends show that consumers no longer spend a significant amount of time reading that book, and in fact, discard it after some time. Most consumers spend their time online, specifically on social networking sites, and so it is just logical that these companies invest more on creating advertisements on these sites.
