3 Comments 24 September 2009

Scientists have now found hope in an experimental vaccine that prevented infection with the AIDS virus. In a large scale AIDS vaccine trial in Bangkok with more than 16,000 Thai volunteers, researchers announced that this breakthrough vaccine diminished the risk of being infected by HIV by more than 31 percent.

AIDS vaccine discovered

The US Army, togethert with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, sponsored this study in Thailand. Col. Jerome Kim, who lead the team for this study, declared that “it’s the first evidence that we could have a safe and effective preventive vaccine”.

This is actually a great news around the world since 7,500 people worldwide are newly infected with HIV daily. UN estimated that, in 2007, 2 million did not make it because of AIDS. To read more of this new AIDS vaccine, please read this article from Fox News.
