Research in Motion will launch its latest version of the Blackberry, the Blackberry Torch. The company hopes that it will compete well against the two most popular smart phones, the Android phones from Google and the iPhone from Apple. Blackberry used to dominate the smart phone business, until these two came along. Now it hopes to regain the top spot with this latest version of the Blackberry.
A lot of hype was added so that everyone will know about the Torch. However, according to a survey conducted in the United Kingdom, wherein 1000 correspondents were asked about the product, only 22 percent knew about the Torch. In the same survey, around 45 percent said that they are not really inclined to buying the Torch, but 19 percent said that they will surely buy the latest Blackberry.
In the same survey, around 36 percent stated that they are still unsure they will buy the Torch. For several reasons, but specifically for use in the corporate world, the Blackberry is well known for its popularity in the business arena. Still, Research in Motion said that they are encouraging users to use the Blackberry as a regular smart phone.
Also in the survey, around 60 percent said they use the Blackberry for personal use, while 33 percent said they will use it in the business world or personal use.
